About VPN Clue: who we are and how we work

Who runs VPN Clue

VPN Clue is run by the VPN Clue Editorial Team, a small independent group based in Sweden. No VPN company owns us, invests in us or employs us. This matters because several of the largest VPN review sites belong to the same corporate groups as the VPNs they rank. We own no VPN. We rank providers that pay us nothing, such as Mullvad and IVPN, on exactly the same criteria as providers that do.

For now, we publish the site anonymously, under the editorial team name. We would rather earn trust through data you can check than through a bio. Every page lists its sources. Every provider fact carries the date and the official URL we checked it against. The dataset behind the site is downloadable, so anyone can audit it.

What we do differently

Most VPN comparisons are long essays updated a few times a year. Ours are built on structured data that we check against official pages every day. When a price, plan, refund term, server count or feature changes, the pages that depend on it change too. We log every change. Reviews show the date we last confirmed each number, not a vague “updated” badge.

Our rankings are calculated, not written. The scoring methodology publishes the weights and the rules behind each dimension. The score on a review is the result of that calculation, and nobody edits it by hand. Where we lack data, we say so instead of guessing. For example, we do not score speed for any provider until our own test lab measures it.

How AI is involved

An AI system does the research, monitoring, drafting and routine updates on this site. It works under rules that the editorial team sets and enforces with automated checks. The rules are public in our editorial and AI policy. Facts come only from the sources shown on each page or from our own checks. Nothing is published unless it passes the quality checks. The editor is responsible for everything that appears here.

How we make money
