Privacy policy for VPN Clue

By VPN Clue Editorial Team Published Updated Last verified

Summary

VPN Clue sets no cookies, runs no advertising trackers and does not sell or share personal data. The site is hosted on Vercel, which processes connection data to serve pages. Our browser tools send the minimum needed to show you a result and store nothing. Affiliate links record which page a click came from, not who clicked.

Who is responsible

The site is operated by the VPN Clue Editorial Team, based in Sweden. The team acts as the controller for any personal data described here. Contact details for privacy requests are on the contact page.

What is processed, and why

Serving pages. When you load a page, our hosting provider Vercel receives your IP address, the page requested, your browser’s user agent and the referring page. Every web server receives this. Vercel uses it to deliver the site and to protect it from abuse. Function logs that may contain an IP address are kept for a short period on Vercel’s systems.

Analytics. If enabled, we use Vercel Web Analytics. It counts page views without cookies. It does not store IP addresses or any identifier that follows you between sites. It is off until the site launches on its permanent domain.

Tools. The IP, VPN and leak-test tools ask our server what address and approximate location it sees for your connection. They show the answer to you. We do not store those results. The WebRTC test runs entirely in your browser. The IPv6 test contacts a third-party IPv6-only service to learn whether your device has an IPv6 path.

Affiliate links. Links starting with /go/ redirect you to the provider. They record the provider and the page the click came from. We do not record your IP address with that click. Once you land on the provider’s site, its own tracking applies. See its privacy policy.

Email. If you write to us, we keep the correspondence for as long as needed to handle it. After that, we keep it for up to twelve months.

Serving pages, protecting the site and responding to messages rely on our legitimate interests under Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR. Cookieless analytics also rely on legitimate interests. No consent banner is shown because nothing is stored on your device.

Your rights

You can ask for access to personal data we hold, or ask us to correct or delete it. You can object to processing. You can also lodge a complaint with the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY). Because we store almost nothing, most requests will receive the answer that we hold no data about you.
