Editorial and AI policy
By VPN Clue Editorial Team Published Last verified
Principles
- Reader first. A page exists to be the best answer to the question it targets, as judged by a skeptical expert who has used the products.
- Data over adjectives. Every superlative is tied to a number, a date and a source.
- Say what is bad. Every review and best-of page includes real drawbacks and who should not buy.
- No fabrication. We never invent test results, quotes, user reviews, screenshots or dates. If we have not tested something, the page says so.
- Commission never changes a verdict. Rankings come from the published methodology.
- Freshness is earned. A visible “updated” date changes only when the substance changed.
Sources
Facts about a provider come from:
- its official pages
- audit reports
- regulators, legislation and court documents
- primary research
- major outlets with named reporters
We never use other review sites as a source for facts. Every page lists the sources it relies on, with the date we accessed each one. The provider record behind the page stores the official URL for every section.
How AI assists the editorial team
An AI system, Claude, does the research, monitoring, drafting and routine updates on this site. It works under rules that the VPN Clue Editorial Team sets. Automated checks enforce those rules. They block publication when a page:
- lacks required sections, sources, disclosure or minimum depth
- uses banned marketing phrases
- links to pages that do not exist
- changes a date without a logged reason
What the AI does:
- reads official pages and records what they say, with the URL and the date
- drafts and updates pages from that data
- watches for price, plan, audit and legal changes
- runs the technical checks
What it does not do:
- invent facts, scores, quotes or test results
- change the scoring rules
- publish anything that fails the checks
The editorial team is responsible for everything published here. Pages say in their footer that they are AI-assisted.
Sensitive topics
We cover laws, bans and age-verification rules factually and neutrally, with a disclaimer that nothing here is legal advice. We do not publish instructions aimed at minors. We do not link to adult sites. We do not encourage breaking the law or a service’s terms. Torrenting and media-player guides carry a copyright notice. Pages about countries that restrict VPNs state the risks before any recommendation.
Corrections
We correct confirmed errors within 48 hours and note the correction in the page’s changelog. To report one, see the corrections page.
