Price history
Price per month of the VPN Plus, 2 years plan, checked daily since 31 Oct 2026. Latest check: $3.49 on 5 Nov 2026.
There is no Proton VPN coupon code. On 31 October 2026, the official pricing page applied its discount by itself. VPN Plus costs $3.49 a month on the two-year plan. You pay $83.76 up front, and the page labels it 65% off. The one-year plan costs $4.49 a month, or $53.88, labeled 55% off. Both renew at $83.88 a year. Every subscription has a 30-day money-back guarantee.
The sign-up buttons on that page already carry Proton’s own promotion, so there is nothing to enter at checkout. We do not repeat codes from coupon sites, because we cannot check them against the official page. Our daily check reads the table above from the pricing page. This page explains the offer, its renewal and refund terms, and whether it beats its rivals.
The Proton VPN deal on 31 October 2026
VPN Plus is the plan most people want. It costs:
- $9.99 month to month
- $4.49 a month for one year, or $53.88 billed up front
- $3.49 a month for two years, or $83.76
The page states that the discounted terms renew at $83.88 every 12 months. The plan data built into the page gives the regular prices as $83.88 a year and $119.76 for two years. That is how Proton arrives at its 55 percent and 65 percent labels against the $9.99 monthly rate. Paid plans allow 10 devices at the same time and unlock the full network. When we checked, the network had 21,722 servers in 149 countries.
Proton Unlimited bundles the VPN with Proton’s other services. It costs $12.99 month to month. One year costs $9.99 a month, or $119.88. Two years cost $7.99 a month, or $191.76, labeled 38% off. Both discounted terms renew at $119.88 a year.
Below both sits the free plan. It costs nothing and has no data cap. But it allows one device, assigns you a server from 10 countries and runs at medium speed. It leaves out:
- streaming
- NetShield, Proton’s blocker for ads and malware
- Secure Core, Proton’s multi-hop feature
- split tunneling, which lets you choose which apps use the VPN
Proton’s Black Friday page was already live on 31 October 2026. It showed a countdown and a note that all new users are eligible. It also said discounts are calculated against the regular monthly price. But it showed no sale prices yet. Until those appear, the two-year VPN Plus plan is the lowest price on the official site. Our daily check records any change on the day it happens.
The refund terms are simpler than most. Every subscription has a 30-day money-back guarantee. You ask for it through Proton’s support. Card refunds take five to ten business days. PayPal or Bitcoin refunds take one to two working days. Two exceptions matter:
- Bank-transfer and cash payments cannot be refunded.
- App Store purchases must be canceled in your Apple account and refunded through Apple’s Report a Problem site.
Proton accepts cards, PayPal and Proton credits. You can buy credits with cash, bank transfer or Bitcoin. So, like NordVPN, Surfshark and Mullvad, Proton can be paid for without a card.

We compared Proton VPN with the other large providers’ lowest verified prices on 31 October 2026. Proton VPN is not the cheapest for the first term, but it is the cheapest to keep:
- Surfshark charges $2.49 a month for 27 months, or $67.23. It does not state its renewal price.
- ExpressVPN charges $2.99 a month for 28 months, or $83.72. It renews at $99.95 a year.
- NordVPN charges $3.49 a month for 27 months, or $94.23. That is the same monthly rate as Proton. It renews at $139.08 a year.
So up front, Proton VPN’s $83.76 is $16.53 more than Surfshark and 4 cents more than ExpressVPN. It is $10.47 less than NordVPN. At renewal, its $83.88 a year is $16.07 less than ExpressVPN and $55.20 less than NordVPN.
Over a first term plus one renewal, VPN Plus costs $167.64 for 36 months. That is about $4.66 a month. ExpressVPN costs $183.67 for 40 months, and NordVPN costs $233.31 for 39 months. Month to month, the gap is even wider. Proton costs $9.99, against NordVPN’s $14.99 and Surfshark’s $16.45. ExpressVPN shows its monthly price only at checkout.
Only Mullvad is simpler. It charges a flat $5.60 a month, or €5, with no introductory price, so it has no discount to wait for. The price history chart above shows whether today’s $3.49 differs from earlier readings. The first reading is from 31 October 2026, so the chart will fill in as the Black Friday sale goes on.
Whether the price is worth paying depends on what you need. That is the subject of our Proton VPN review. Proton VPN offers:
- open-source apps on every platform, so anyone can check the code
- yearly no-logs audits by Securitum, an outside security firm. They check Proton’s promise to keep no logs of your activity.
- port forwarding, which lets other devices connect to yours through the VPN
- Secure Core multi-hop, which sends your traffic through two servers instead of one
- a free plan to fall back on
Against that, it has:
- no post-quantum protection yet. This is encryption built to resist future quantum computers.
- no smart DNS, a streaming feature for devices that cannot run a VPN app
- no dedicated IP for consumers. A dedicated IP is an IP address that only you use.
- no split tunneling on iOS
Our score for Proton VPN, shown above, weighs these points on published criteria.
How we verify these deals
A daily automated check reads every price on this page from Proton VPN’s official pricing page. It records the plan, the term, the amount billed up front, the renewal amount the page states, and the date. The table and chart above are built from that record. So the “verified” date is the last time the official page confirmed the price. A changed offer appears here the same day.
We never publish coupon codes we cannot see on the provider’s own site. The affiliate link on this page does not change which offer we show or how we describe it. Our how we make money page explains the arrangement.
